While India's wait for Yamaha's popular YZF-R25 continues, emerging reports from Indonesia suggest that the model is getting ready for an update in the market with ABS, starting from the first half of 2015.
A new report of IndianAutos Blog via Otonity.com, citing Mohammad Masykur, Assistant General, marketing, PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM), reveals that the Indonesian model of YZF-R25 will also be getting ABS from next year like its counterpart in Japan.
In Indonesia, the quarter litre sports bike has earned a tremendous response since its entry in May this year. The YIMM, sole manufacturer of R25 sports bike was forced to cut down the export of the model to Japan due to its high demand in the domestic market.
Yamaha YZF-R25, a bike that comes with both stylish and performance package has been priced at 53 million Rupiah (roughly ₹2.70 lakh) in Indonesia. Just to remind, the bike draws power from 250 cc liquid-cooled, in-line, four-stroke, two-cylinder engine, which can churn out a power of 36 bhp, 12,000 rpm and a peak torque of 22.1 Nm at 10,000 rpm and features fuel consumption indicator, oil change indicator, trip and odo-meter and engine temperature warning.
In terms of dimensions, Yamaha R25 measures 2,090 mm in length, 720 mm in width, 1,135 mm in height and has a seat height of 780 mm.
The bike, which has caught the minds of many motor enthusiasts from around the world is also expected to make its India entry next year.
The Indian specific model of Yamaha YZF-R25 is rumoured to come with a single cylinder 250 cc motor in order to make the bike affordable in our market. It is not sure if R25 with ABS will also make its way to the Indian market. The bike will be brought to the country as Completely Knocked Down (CKD) and when launched, R25 will rival Hyosung GT250R, Kawasaki Ninja 250 Mono and Honda CBR250R in India.
At this point of time, price details of Yamaha R25 for India are sketchy, but it can be expected to fall in the range of ₹2.5-₹3 lakh.
