Xiaomi posted an interesting contest on its official Mi India Facebook page. On the post, Xiaomi mentioned 'Something is coming for sure and here's your chance to score a priority pass'. The post further asks people to tag everyone you know and share it.

The post further gives a link to a word puzzle where multiple keywords can be found. We tried the puzzle from two different accounts and found several keywords hinting at a smartphone release. The keywords we found on the list are Expandable, Snapdragon, Wideangle. MicroSD, dualSIM. Movie and quickcharge. All the features strongly suggest the upcoming phone must be their budget smartphone Redmi 2.

Xiaomi Redmi 2, the successor of Redmi 1s features LTE connectivity with dual SIM slot. Measuring 134x67.2x9.4mm the Redmi 2S weighs 133g and sports a 4.7-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 720x1280 pixels resolution at 312 PPI. The touchscreen protects itself from scratches with an overlaid Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection.

Powered by a Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 SoC with a Quad Core 1.2GHz Cortex A53 processor, Adreno 306 GPU the Redmi 2 is available with 1/2GB RAM, 8/16GB of inbuilt storage variant and both the version features a microSD card slot with expandability support up to 32GB. The device further packs an 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera.

The specifications mentioned above clearly suggest that Xiaomi must be releasing the Redmi 2S in the Indian market. Significantly, Motorola has already announced the Indian pricing details of their 3G edition budget smartphone Moto E 2nd Generation and probably make it available 10th march onwards.

Meanwhile, Lenovo too launched the second edition of its budget LTE smartphone A6000 at MWC. Since Indian consumer market is highly influenced by pricing, several smartphone makers have are suddenly interested to fight it out in the budget segment.

The Redmi 2 8GB edition sells at China for ¥699 which roughly translates to around $113, €94 and ₹7,120. Significantly, Moto E 2nd Generation features similar amount of RAM and storage but supports 3G networks only and will be available on Flipkart for ₹6,999.
