It's the festive season and buying gifts for your loved ones is a tradition. If Xiaomi's budget smartphones – Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite – were on your wish list but unable to buy it due to its flash sale, you're in luck.

After selling lakhs of units in just a few series of flash sales every Wednesday, the Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite have been out of stock on both Mi.com and Amazon.in. Instead of waiting for long, interested buyers can purchase either one of the budget selfie smartphones on December 20, when the next flash sale will commence on Amazon India and Xiaomi's official online store.

Considering the high demand for both the smartphones, it is natural the stock will quickly run out on both platforms. Buyers must be vigilant of when the sale begins. First, choose which platform you are planning to buy the Redmi Y1 or Redmi Y1 Lite from and login well before 12 noon on Wednesday.

Xiaomi launched the Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite in India last month to cater to the growing demand for selfie-centric smartphones. The affordable pricing, good selfie camera, and lasting battery make the new Redmi Y1 series a compelling choice for budget shoppers in the country.

The Redmi Y1 is priced at Rs 8,999 for 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM configuration and there's also a 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM variant for Rs 10,999. The device comes with a 16MP front-facing camera with LED light and a Beautify 3.0 feature.

The Redmi Y1 sports a 5.5-inch HD display, a 13MP rear camera with dual-LED flash, a 3,080mAh battery, and an octa-core Snapdragon 435 chipset. The phone also runs Android Nougat-based MIUI 9 out of the box.

As for the Redmi Y1 Lite, the specs are toned down a bit to match to an ultra-low price tag. The handset costs Rs 6,999.

The specifications of the Redmi Y1 Lite include a 5.5-inch HD display, a 13MP rear camera with PDAF and dual LED flash, and a 5MP front-snapper. It is powered by a Snapdragon 425 chipset, 3,080mAh battery and MIUI 9 OS.
