Xiaomi has fulfilled its fans wishes by unveiling a new product range that adds to its growing list of mobile devices in the market. During a grand event in China on Tuesday, Xiaomi launched an upgrade to its original Mi Pad, the Mi Pad 2, complete with top-of-the-line specs and improvements.
The new tablet is finally an upgrade done right.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 brings both software and hardware related upgrades. The new tablet is extremely thin and measures just 6.95mm, which is 18 % thinner than its predecessor. The Mi Pad 2 has also lost 38 grams compared to the original Mi Pad and weighs just 322 grams despite featuring a full metal body. Other than that, the rest of the design corresponds to the first-gen Mi Pad.
Diving into the specs of the Mi Pad 2, the premium tablet features a USB Type-C port, industry's leading standard for charging and data transfer. Mi Pad 2 features a 7.9-inch sharp display with 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution, which is same as the Apple iPad mini 4.
The Mi Pad 2, like Redmi Note 3, supports reading mode by reducing the blue light on the display to prevent eye strain.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 is powered by 64-bit quad-core 2.24GHz Intel Atom X5-Z8500 processor, Intel HD graphics GPU, 2GB DDR3 RAM and 16GB/64GB storage. The tablet also features an impressive 8MP primary camera and a 5MP front camera. There is a large 6,190mAh battery to keep you going for long hours.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 is available in dark grey and gold hues. The 16GB variant costs RMB 999 (around Rs. 10,000) and the 64GB model costs RMB 1299 (around Rs. 13,500). International availability and pricing is yet to be announced.
