Xiaomi released the Mi Note in January last year before following up with the Mi Note Pro a few months later with some feature upgrades. Now, it's being reported that a device from Mi Note family called the Mi Note 2 is in the offing.

Some may mistake devices from the Mi Note and Redmi Note series but these are completely different as far as their specifications are concerned. Xiaomi hasn't revealed the release date of the upcoming Mi Note 2 but it should happen soon, now that its flagship device, the Mi 5, has been launched.

According to a report by Android Headline, Xiaomi will release a number of the Mi Note 2 variants -- with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 processors, 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM. However, the variants are expected to share other features, including a 5.7-inch QHD display with 2,560x1,440 pixel.

The same source claimed that the device will come packed with a 32GB or 256GB internal memory, powered by a 3,600mAh battery with an 18W Quick Charging, and mount a 16MP main camera with OIS (optical image stabilisation) and Sony's IMX295 sensor, and a 5MP front-snapper. It went on to say that the handset will be metal clad and come with a price tag of 2,999 Yuan (around $460 / Rs. 30,700).

It may be mentioned that the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro that was released in May last year has a 5.7-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1,440x2,560 pixels (515 ppi pixel density), a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor clocking at 1.5 GHz and Android 5.0.1 Lollipop. It also comes with a 64GB internal memory, a 4GB RAM, a 13MP main camera with f/2.0 aperture and OIS, a 4MP front-snapper with f/2.0 aperture, and a 3,000mAh battery.
