Xiaomi smartphones tend to attract a lot of attention and demand in markets such as China and India. The company's latest release, the Mi Max, has already crossed 8 million registrations ahead of its first flash sale in China on May 17. While fans in India wait for the handset's release, third-party online retailer GearBest is offering a chance to grab the Mi Max early.
According to the product listing on GearBest, the Mi Max with 32GB storage is available for pre-orders at $325.89, which is approximately Rs. 21,800 if shipped to India. Interested buyers from different parts of the world, including the U.S., Australia, Brazil, France and Germany, can order the device before the pre-sale ends on June 21. Xiaomi Mi Max is available in light gray and champagne colours.
Comparitively, the same model listed on GearBest is available for ¥1499 (around $230 / Rs. 15,300) in China, which is quite the difference for those who wish to have the smartphone before its official international debut. For its first official flash sale in China, Xiaomi is going to make 100,000 units of Mi Max available for purchase, which could make it hard for fans to purchase the device on Day One.
Xiaomi Mi Max is getting its attention not only for the price but also its specifications. The handset features a 6.4-inch Full HD display, a 16MP primary camera with dual-tone LED flash and PDAF, and a 5MP front-snapper with f/2.0 aperture. The device boasts a full-metal structure with a fingerprint scanner in the rear.
Under the hood, it packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 hexa-core processor paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB expandable storage. There's another variant of the Mi Max powered by a Snapdragon 652 octa-core SoC with 4GB RAM and 64GB/128GB storage options. A massive 4,850mAh battery powers the device.
Xiaomi Mi Max is also the first device to run the latest MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, which tends to offer a slew of new features and interesting upgrades.
