Xiaomi launched the much-awaited metal-clad Mi 5s series smartphones in Beijing on September 27. It comes with two variants — one, a standard Mi 5s, and a top-end Mi 5s Plus.
The new Mi 5s sports a 5.15-inch full HD display and comes packed with Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor, 3GB/4GB RAM, 64GB/128GB storage, a 12MP primary camera with Sony IMX378 sensor, 4MP front snapper and a 3,200mAh battery.
On the other hand, Mi 5s Plus features bigger 5.7-inch full HD screen, 4GB/6GB RAM, 64GB/128GB inbuilt memory and a massive 3,800mAh battery.
The key aspect of Mi 5s Plus is its camera hardware on its back. It houses two 13MP Sony cameras, one to capture colour and another dedicated for white and black. Other features include dual-tone LED flash and PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus).
Both the Mi 5s series come with metal-based uni-body and boast advanced ultra-sonic biometric technology-based fingerprint sensor on the home button.

The generic Mi 5s comes in two configurations -- 3GB RAM + 64GB storage and 4GB+128GB storage for ¥1,999 (approx.$300/€267/Rs.19,926) and ¥2,299 (approx.$345/€307/Rs.22,917), respectively.
Whereas the Mi 5s Plus too comes in two models -- 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 6GB+128GB storage for ¥2,299 (approx.$345/€307/Rs.22,917) and ¥2,599 (approx.$390/€347/Rs.25,907), respectively.
Both the models will be available in four colours -- Dark Grey, Gold, Rose Gold and Silver and go on sale on September 29 via mi.com, Mi Home and JD.com.
As of now, there is no word on whether Xiaomi has any plans of launching the new devices outside China.
