Earlier this week, Xiaomi co-founder officially confirmed that the company will launch the new Mi 4C series phones on 22 September.

The new Xiaomi Mi 4C is said to be the advanced version of the Mi 4i, which was unveiled in April this year. To provide a better perspective on the upcoming devices, we have sifted through numerous reports and have lined up five key feature upgrades.

Display:

As per the multiple reports, Xiaomi Mi 4C will sport a 5.0-inch full HD (1920x1080) display (Sharp/JDI) with pixel density of around 441 ppi (pixels per inch), same as its predecessor Mi 4i.

Processor, RAM and storage:

Recently leaked AnTuTu benchmark results (courtesy, Tech Gadgetsz) have indicated that the Xiaomi Mi 4C will come equipped with 64-bit class based 1.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 Hexa-core SoC (System on Chip). It will be backed by Adreno 418 graphics engine.

It is learnt that Xiaomi Mi 4C will be made available in two storage variants --16GB and 32GB -- with 2GB RAM and 3GB RAM respectively.

Mobile operating system:

Recently released Redmi Note comes with MIUI v7.0, and so in all probability, Xiaomi Mi 4C will also come with same OS out-of-the-box.

MIUI 7.0 is based on Google's latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS, which the company claims was developed by a team of about 750 R&D engineers. They have created a slew of custom themes and introduce face-recognition technology in the gallery app that can automatically make separate albums for each individual, provided users turn on the auto-sort feature via People tab in the settings.

Camera:

Like display, Xiaomi Mi 4C will have same camera features seen in Mi 4i. It is said to come with 13mp camera with dual-LED flash on the rear-side and 5mp snapper on the front.

Type C USB port adaptor:

Xiaomi president and co-founder Lin Bin, on Weibo, has confirmed that the Mi 4C package will come with Micro-USB to USB Type-C adaptor. It will be the company's first smartphone to support the Type C USB port. With this advanced USB port connector, users do not have to worry about orienting the port while plugging the device as its works reverse as well.

Battery:

If the leaked image of Xiaomi Mi 4C retail-box is to believed, fans are likely to get disappointed as the package said that the new device will house 3080 mAh battery, that's 40 mAh power units less than the Mi 4i, which came with 3120 mAh cell.
