After weeks of teasing, Xiaomi finally unveiled the Mi Max in China on Tuesday.

As the name implies, the new metal-clad Mi Max sports a mammoth 6.44-inch screen, making it the company's biggest phone till date. And, to support the power guzzling massive full HD screen, Xiaomi has incorporated a high-capacity 4,850mAh battery, which is enough to keep the device running for a whole day under mixed usage.

The new Xiaomi mid-range phablet also boasts a fingerprint sensor, a feature-rich 16MP primary camera with dual-LED flash on the back, PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus), 5MP front snapper with f/2.0 aperture, Bluetooth v4.2 and Wi-Fi (with MIMO), dual-SIM slots and runs the Android Marshmallow-based MIUI v8.0.

The company has revealed that there will be three variants for buyers to choose from based on CPU and RAM configuration. The high-end model with 4GB RAM+128GB+Snapdragon 652 octa-core CPU costs ¥1,999 (around $307/€269/Rs. 20,442), whereas the 3GB RAM+32GB+Snapdragon 650 and 3GB RAM+64GB+Snapdragon 650 models will cost ¥1,499 (around $230/€202/Rs. 15,334) and ¥1,699 (around $261/€229/Rs.17,380), respectively.

All three variants will be made available in light grey, gold and silver colour options, and they will initially be sold through flash sale in China on May 17.

As of now, there is no official word on when the new phablet will be released in India and other markets.

 MIUI v8.0 (global) to be released soon:

The new MIUI v8.0 is based on the latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. It comes with overhauled design with bold colours, interactive animations, new system fonts including Xiaomi's very own Mi Lanting font and many value-added features.
