It is safe to say that 2018 will be the year of X-Men as three movies from the franchise are slated for release next year. While Deadpool 2 looks set to be a money-spinner for Marvel, the studio will also count on X-Men: New Mutants and X-Men: Dark Phoenix to rake in the moolah.

The Dark Phoenix is scheduled to release in November next year and details about the movie are still under the wraps. The 20th Century Fox has not made any announcements on the movie's director or cast. However, there are two updates on the movie that are likely to lit up fans' eyes.

According to Comicbookmovie.com, the makers are set to begin the production of the X-Men movie in Montreal in a month's time.

But it is the second update that might catch the fans offguard. According to a few audition videos surfaced online, a few famous faces have been auditioning for the movie. The videos shared by Omega Underground, an entertainment website, show Rarmian Newtown (The Family, Dance Academy) putting on the act for both Colin and Shane, Alexa Swinton (Billions) for Marie, and newcomer Paul Mescal for Sam.

Usually, the identity of the character actors reading for the role is kept a secret. However, the audition videos available online show Swinton reading for the role of "Marie", setting off speculations that she might play Rogue's younger version in the film.

Agreed, the video doesn't cut as substantial evidence for the claim. But since Cyclops, Jean and Nightcrawler were introduced in Apocalypse, Rogue joining the forces sound tenable.

The announcement of Dark Phoenix's release date evoked mixed reactions from fans. While some are looking forward to see how the X-Men movie will pan out, many fear the film will not meet their expectations.

The X-Men Dark Phoenix is scheduled to release on November 2, 2018.
