Salman Khan-Anushka Sharma starrer "Sultan" has broken the lifetime box office collection record of Shah Rukh Khan's film and has become the sixth biggest grosser at the worldwide box office. Interestingly, the film has achieved this feat in just nine days of its worldwide release.
"Sultan" closed its first-week box office run with Rs. 229.16 crore nett (Rs. 318.28 crore gross) income. The nine-day box office collection of the Salman-Anushka starrer has taken down Shah Rukh's "Chennai Express" from the sixth position in all time highest grosser list. "Chennai Express," which is Shah Rukh's highest grosser, had minted Rs. 227.13 crore nett in 2013. The family entertainer took more than four weeks to earn more than Rs. 227 crore, but "Sultan" shattered the records in just nine days.

Day-wise data in next tweet...," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, adding: "#Sultan Wed 36.54 cr, Thu 37.32 cr, Fri 31.67 cr, Sat 36.62 cr, Sun 38.21 cr, Mon 15.54 cr, Tue 12.92 cr, Wed 10.82 cr, Thu 9.52 cr."
After beating "Chennai Express," "Sultan" is set to beat the record of "Kick," which earned Rs. 231.85 crore and emerge as Salman's second biggest grosser. The Salman-Anushka starrer will secure a place in the top five biggest grosser list.
Worldwide Box Office
Meanwhile, at the worldwide box office, "Sultan" has become the first film to gross Rs. 400 crore in just nine days. The worldwide total of "Sultan" has accumulated to Rs. 410.28 crore. After adding the updated overseas collection, the worldwide total might cross Rs. 450 crore mark.
