Hollywood actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has dethroned Robert Downey Jr. to become world's highest-paid actor. With $64 million, the "Fast 8" actor took the top spot in the Forbes' list of the world's highest paid actor of 2016.

Interestingly, Downey Jr. has slipped into the eighth position from last year's top spot. Downey recorded a whopping $80 million last year, but this the earnings dropped to $33 million. He is sharing the eight positions in the Forbes list with Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan.

Johnson, who was named as the 11th highest paid actor of 2015 with $31.5 million, saw an increase of 103 percent in his income after June 2015. Johnson doubled his earnings thanks to his action comedy "Central Intelligence," "Baywatch" and "Fast and Furious" eighth franchise.

Jackie Chan maintained his second position in the highest paid actors list with $61 million, while "The Martian" actor Matt Damon came in third $55 million. Tom Cruise and Johnny Deep rounded up the top five list with estimated $53 million and $48 million, respectively.

The highest paid actors list also includes four Bollywood stars. Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan is ranked as the 18th highest paid actor in the world with $20 million, Salman Khan as the 14th highest paid actor with $28.5 million, Akshay Kumar as the 10th highest paid actor with an estimated $31.5 million and Shah Rukh as the eighth highest-paid with an estimated $33 million.
