A 23-year-old woman was shot dead by an unidentified man in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday. The victim, identified as Anjali Rathore, worked as a trainee engineer with mobile manufacturing company Lava.

Rathore, who is hailed from Haryana's Yamunanagar district, was shot in the head at 6.30 am. Though a CCTV camera installed near the crime scene captured the incident, the man is yet to be identified. 

Rathore was rushed to Fortis Hospital, where she was declared brought dead.

Police have registered a case of murder under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. The victim's family have alleged that she was killed by a friend from Etawah in Uttar Pradesh. The youth used to study with Rathore at Lovely Professional University in Jalandhar, Punjab.

The investigators have also found his mobile number in Rathore's call log. They said that the man had called her at 6.05 am, after which she came down from her apartment.

"The man who shot her hasn't been identified. We are probing the matter from all angles," a police officer told Hindustan Times.
