The future of "X-Force" is in flux following Fox's announcement of "X-Men: Apocalypse", claims X-Force creator Rob Liefeld.

When a fan questioned Liefeld about the future of "X-Force" during a Twitter chat, Liefeld replied that "Everything changed when X-Men Apocalypse was announced".

Liefeld's tweets hint that the announcement of "X-Men: Apocalypse" has caused other projects such as "X-Force", "Deadpool" and the Gambit film to be pushed down Fox's priority list. And when a fan asked if the movie will be made, he responded saying it was a "coin toss".

Liefeld even sounded unsure when asked if Cable, the leader of X-Force, will appear in "X-Men: Apocalypse".

However, fans of the comic series are positive that Cable will make an appearance in "X-Men: Apocalypse" as the two are interestingly linked. In the "X-Force" series it is shown that Cable once time travelled to the past to prevent Apocalypse's rise to power, and how Cable played an integral role in the destruction of Apocalypse.

And as "X-Men: Apocalypse" centers around Apocalypse, the first mutant to ever exist on Earth, Cable is expected to make an appearance in the movie.

There has been no confirmation regarding Cable's appearance in "X-Men: Apocalypse" yet but the internet is flooded with suggestions on who should play the mutant. Jean Claude Van Dame, Sean Bean and Clive Owen are some of the popular name being tossed around by fans.

A few years back, Stephen Lang had expressed an interest in playing the role.

"One of boys mentioned to me - he says, 'Hey pops, they're talking about you for Cable,' and I said 'Who would that be?' and so he Googled him for me and I saw him and I thought 'Oh wow, he's cool.'"

"Yes, I'm there. [Laughter] Sure, why not. I'd be happy to. You read it all, everything that comes across. And if it makes sense, if it's a cool character, if it's a theme you want to explore…sure," Lang said when asked about playing Cable, Screenrant reported at the time.

Meanwhile, Liefeld feels Tom Hardy or Jon Hamm would be ideal for the role.
