Bollywood fans will see an interesting clash between two much-awaited films - Aamir Khan's "Dhoom 3" and Rajinikanth's "Kochadaiiyaan", which are set for to hit screens in December. The films could end up eating into each other's revenue as their release dates are just a week apart.

"Dhoom 3", which also stars Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra, is scheduled for release on 20 December, just a week after the release of "Kochadaiiyaan" starring south superstar Rajinikanth and Deepika Padukone.

"Kochadaiiyaan" directed by Soundarya, was intially set to release on Diwali, but is rescheduled to Rajinikanth's birthday. The film, which will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, English and Japanese, is now confirmed to hit screens on 12 December.

Most big-budget films give each other's release dates a gap of at least two weeks, to ensure their revenue is not affected.

It may be recalled that Shah Rukh Khan's film "Chennai Express" affected the revenue of "Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai Again: Dobaara" last month despite a six-day gap. So, there are chances of "Kochadaiiyaan" affecting the collections of "Dhoom 3".

The business of a film can be affected the other way round too. There are possibilities of "Dhoom 3" forcing "Kochadaiiyaan" out of the theatres if the audience likes it more than the latter.

The hype around "Dhoom 3" and "Kochadaiiyaan" has been good so far. The trailer of the Aamir starrer has got more than 1.12 crore views since it was released on 4 September, whereas Rajinikanth's "Kochadaiiyaan" teaser, which was released on 8 September, has received more than 34 lakh views.
