Aamir Khan's "Dhoom 3" is all set to have a solo big release on 20 December as no other Hindi films are releasing on the same day.

However, the film will not release alone in Tamil Nadu as two films - Karthi's "Biriyani" and Jiiva's "Endrendrum Punnagai" - are confirmed to hit the screens on the same day. Of these two, "Biriyani" is the most-talked-about film as it is directed by Venkat Prabhu. Expectations are high on the Karthi starrer as the director has a good track record with all his past films turning out to be big hits.

On the other hand, romantic comedy entertainer "Endrendrum Punnagai" also has a positive pre-release buzz. But the films will face strong competition at the box office from "Dhoom 3." Aamir Khan has a huge fan following in Tamil Nadu. Moreover, the "Dhoom" franchise is quite popular among fans in the state. Hrithik Roshan's "Dhoom 2" performed well at the box office and raked in good collections.

With Aamir doing the antagonist's role in "Dhoom 3", expectations for the action thriller flick are sky high. The makers of "Dhoom 3" have already started booking theatres in Tamil Nadu. Sathyam Cinemas, who will distribute the Hindi and Tamil versions of "Dhoom 3", have booked around 150 screens in state. According to a report in Sify, the screen count might touch 200 ahead of the film's release.

"Dhoom 3" is likely to be released in more number of screens than Shah Rukh Khan's "Chennai Express." The masala entertainer is the highest grossing Bollywood film in Tamil Nadu-Kerala area, where the film raked in ₹8.55 crore. "Dhoom 3" is expected to break that record and emerge as the biggest Hindi film grosser in the state.

The Aamir starrer is carrying fantastic pre-release reports. Upon its release, the film might affect the business of "Biriyani" and "Endrendrum Punnagai" as the buzz surrounding "Dhoom 3" is huge in TN.

Normally, the first weekend collections of a film are very crucial in deciding its fate. Although these three films are expected to take a good opening on the first day of its release, audience response will decide its fate in the following days. If a film carries a positive report, then its business might do well. But if it gets negative feedback, this might affect the film's collections. One needs to wait a little longer to find out how these three films fare at the TN box office.
