Wickedleak Wammy Neo Smartphone Units Sold Out within 72 Hours; Company Expands Pickup-and-Drop Service to 2,200-plus Locations

Domestic smartphone maker Wickedleak has claimed that the company received an overwhelming response for the newly launched Wammy Neo handsets from customers in India.

Wammy Neo smartphones units (estimated to be 5000 plus), which were put on sale on 15 June, reportedly got sold out within 72 hours. Though the numbers look too small compared to Moto E sales figures, it's still a good sign for a domestic brand, encouraging other local vendors to follow suit by offering devices with high-end specifications at a competitive price-tag.

Buoyed by the response from the Indian public, Wickedleak has replenished Wammy Neo stocks and has promised to begin the delivery of units from 30 June. In a bid to boost the after-service program, the company has also announced to expand the pickup-and-drop service to more than 2200 locations across India.

The newly released Wammy Neo smartphone sports a 5.0-inch HD (1280x720p) display and comes loaded with a 1.7GHz MediaTek Octa-core processor, backed byMali 450 graphics engine and sumptuous 2GB RAM.

Other stipulated specifications of the device include 8GB storage (expandable upto 32GB), a13.0-megapixel camera (with LED flash, auto-focus), a 5.0-megapixel snapper on the front and a 2200 mAh battery.

The new Wickedleak phone is currently available for ₹11,990 at the company website and also comes with an optional feature - AquaProtect Water Resistant Technology - where consumers have to shell an additional ₹1,550.

In related news, Wickedleak has confirmed to launch a Microsoft Windows OS-powered tablet soon to the Indian market with a sub-₹15,000 price-tag but details regarding the specific timeline of release date and the specifications of the device is still under wraps.
