Why has Perrie Edwards been Branded as the Yoko Ono of One Direction?

History has often blamed women for causing destructive wars. Helen of Troy was pegged as the cause of the Trojan War. Similarly, in the world of music, Yoko Ono - the musician/artist/wife of John Lennon - was branded as the primary reason for The Beatles' split. Now, the world has found a new criminal in a woman in love: Perrie Edwards.

Whenever a teenage heartthrob falls in love, it is his partner who is subjected to threats and abuses from fans. It is the same in the case of Zayn Malik and Perrie Edwards.

Many fans compiled reasons as to why Perrie isn't good enough for the former One Direction member as soon as they began dating. However, all hell broke loose when, in March, Zayn admitted to quitting the band.

Zayn had said that Harry, Louis, Liam, and Niall will remain his friends for life. Although he did not mention fiancée Perrie in his official statement, fans started blaming Zayn's ladylove for splitting up the band of brothers.

"I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight...I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world," read Zayn's statement.

Hateful comments against Perrie started flowing in soon after he announced his decision to leave the band. When it seemed like all the unnecessary accusations have died down, another bizarre rumour popped up: Perrie has banned all One Direction members from their wedding.

Hollywood Life wrote a heartfelt piece on how sad it is that the four boys, who were part of Zayn's life for five years, would not attend his special day. The article went on to add that Perrie was furious with One Direction because she felt they were a bad influence on Zayn and that they were the reason he had allegedly cheated on her in Thailand.

However, Gossip Cop has now busted this rumour. They have clarified that there is not an ounce of truth to the report.
