Manchester United notched up their third win on the bounce last night after they defeated West Bromwich Albion 2-0 thanks to Zlatan Ibrahimovic who continued his superb goal scoring form for Manchester United. After a torrid start to the season, Manchester United finally looks like the real deal as they continue to put pressure on the teams above them after a slow start to the season.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic needed only five minutes to give Manchester United the lead after he headed home a superb cross from Jesse Lingard. Wayne Rooney had a chance to increase Manchester United's lead mid way in the first half but his superb strike from the edge of the box was tipped the crossbar. The Manchester United captain is still one goal short of equalling Bobby Charlton's United record of 249 goals. The game could have had a completely different outcome as Ibrahimovic could have been sent off for his rough tangle with West Bromwich defender Craig Dawson.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic gave the visitors a two goal lead ten minutes into the second half after his powerful shot deflected off Craig Dawson. West Bromwich striker Salomon Rondon scored a hat-trick in his previous match against Swansea, but he could not find the net against Manchester United as Phil Jones and Marcus Rojo were able to contain him. West Bromwich Albion had lost just one of their last six games, and that was to league leaders Chelsea so Manchester United had a tough task on their hands but they came out strong.

Jose Mourinho had a lot of praises for Zlatan Ibrahimovic after his goals took the Red Devils to 6th on the Premier League table, just three points off the top four.

"He is doing amazingly well. He's Superman. I was expecting to give him more rest in the Europa League but we put ourselves in a difficult situation by losing our first game in Feyenoord. But it (the games he plays) is something we do together. We communicate; we talk about his situation and his feelings. Until now he is feeling great. He is not a normal player because he is in a position where he can't hide. If you are an amazing central defender, you can play until you are older. But a striker cannot hide. He was important to us even in the period he was not scoring goals" the Daily Mail quoted the Manchester United boss as saying.

Manchester United take on relegation threatened Sunderland in their next game on Boxing day and after putting together a few good performances they need to continue this run during the festive period if they are to catch up to the teams above them.
