Defending Wimbledon women's singles champion Serena Williams has had a topsy-turvy campaign so far in the 130th edition of the competition. The American veteran sailed smoothly in the second round of Wimbledon 2016 and that's then when she was pushed to her limits by compatriot Christina McHale.
She, however, overcame the challenge and ensured her momentum saw her through in the third round match too against Germany's Annika Beck. Her fourth round match of Wimbledon 2016 sees her pitted against Russia veteran Svetlana Kuznetsova on Monday.
Kuznetsova, 31, got past big name Caroline Wozniacki in the first round of Wimbledon 2016 and then knocked out American Sloane Stephens in third round after a gruelling three-setter.
The Russian may have defeated Serena in Miami earlier this year, but the American has a 9-3 win record overall over Kuznetsova. "I feel like I know Svetlana's tactics, even though she changes it up every time we play," Serena was quoted as saying by the UK Telegraph. "She knows my game and I know hers. Then it's just a question of who is going to fight to win it. We'll give our heart, as we always do."
Kuznetsova has never been that impressive at the grass court, but can she really push Serena to her limits once again? That remains to be seen.
