"The Voice" will return to NBC on Monday and the first episode of season 9 will see judges Gwen Stefani, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Pharrell Williams dealing with each others' songs.

A promo for the episode revealed that Stefani will be covering "Neon Lights" by Shelton, while he sings No Doubt's "Don't Speak". Pharrell will take on Maroon 5's "Sugar" and Levine will cover "Get Lucky".

These performances can be watched online if you have a subscription with a participating television provider. The episode can be watched online for free the next day on

Like the previous seasons, Monday's episode will also feature the blind auditions, where the coaches will select contestants to join their teams. This season's blind auditions have generated quite a buzz due to the sheer number of talents being featured on the show.

The viewers will also get to hear a lot of inspirational stories as the contestants include a plane crash survivor, an Olympic hopeful whose dream to compete ended following an injury, and a singer whose guardian died while trying to disarm a bomb in Iraq.

The promo revealed that day one will feature one contestant who impresses all the four judges with his rendition of "Angel Eyes". The man in question is Arkansas native Barrett Baber.

When asked about what style of music he usually played, the musician answered: "I'm trying to pioneer a new sound maybe, in country music, with some soul. There's some really great music out there, but I think there's a place for me, for this voice."

It remains to be seen who Barber will choose as his coach, but Shelton and Levine seemed to want him the most.

"They way you perform on stage. We've never seen anything like it," Shelton said in a sneak peek of the performance. "I'm not kidding when I say it's like watching Garth (Brooks) up there."

"I can tell by your vocals that you love all styles, and that's why you're one of my favourites," Levine said. "I will destroy for you. I am on fire for you. I want you on my team so bad."

"The Voice" premieres Monday, 21 September, at 8 pm EDT on NBC.
