As of the previously aired "Shameless" Season 6 Episode 8, Whiteboy Carl (Ethan Cutkosky) has given up his thug life and decided to live a legal life, at least as legal as a Gallagher can be. He will finally get rewarded for his new life and outlook in the upcoming Episode 9 titled "A Yurt of One's Own."

In the previous, episode Fiona (Emmy Rossum) learned that Carl has seen some dark things that made him question his life choices. Despite Frank's (William Macy) disapproval, Carl decided to get out the drug-selling business. However, it came at a huge cost, especially to Sean (Dermot Mulroney), who had to give up everything from his shoes to his car, save his boxers.

Sean, being the great boyfriend that he is, even offered to get Carl a job in his diner, the one that Ian (Cameron Monaghan) was fired from. Despite being patient with Carl for everything else, Sean lost his cool when he learned that Carl had left guns all over the house, one of which his young son Will (Reed Emmons) found.

Sean even said a few hurtful things to Fiona, going as far as to say that he should never have trusted his son with her. However, it looks like they have worked out the issues, because Carl, devoid of the cornrows, is working at the diner in a promo for "A Yurt of One's Own."

His efforts to be become a Good Samaritan will bring luck in the "honey" department for Carl. In the promo, the girl he has been hitting on since the beginning on the season will visit him at the diner and tell him that he likes her better now that he is not a wannabe Black gangster.

While the current boyfriend is being considerate and understanding, Fiona's ex-husband has been making her life difficult since the beginning of the season. Fans will remember how Gus (Steve Kazee) wrote an insulting song about Fiona and performed it in front of her and a huge crowd, and how he refused to merely sign some papers to help her buy the Gallagher house back.

In the upcoming episode, he will ask Fiona to return the engagement ring he gave her. The ring, which apparently was smuggled from Nazi Germany by Gus' grandmother, is currently at a pawn shop and she will have to pay way more than what she expected to get it back.
