Defending Pro Kabaddi champions U Mumba take on Puneri Paltan in a league game, Monday, at NSCI, Mumbai.
Patna Pirates and U Mumba have already qualified for the Pro Kabaddi League 2016 semifinals, and the next five league matches will decide who the other two teams joining them in the next round will be. Puneri Paltan, Bengal Warriors or Telugu Titans are the sides competing for the last two places.
U Mumba, second in the table at the moment, have three more matches to go in the Pro Kabaddi League 2016 league phase. They are currently on 45 points. Both Puneri Paltan and Bengal Warriors, with two games to go, are on 42 points while Telugu Titans, with have just one game to go, are on 35 points.
It's likely that Paltan and Warriors will be the other two teams to progress to the next round, as the Titans know that getting past U Mumba at home is not an easy task at all. U Mumba face Telugu Titans, Tuesday.
The Mumbai side come into the game at the backdrop of a 35-21 victory over Jaipur Pink Panthers in their last fixture. Star raider Rishank Devadiga and skipper Anup Kumar, with their all-round performances, once again, helped U Mumba record an impressive victory this season.
Puneri Paltan know the importance of this win. They are just one victory away from the Pro Kabaddi League 2016 semifinals and therefore, they can be expected to go for the kill now. The Pune side have been quite impressive in their last four fixtures. They beat Dabang Delhi by ten points and then got the better of Jaipur Pink Panthers by 15 points.
After those two stunning victories, Puneri Paltan defeated Telugu Titans and Bengaluru Bulls by a 17-point margin each in Delhi. Skipper Manjeet Chhillar showed his class in both games and star raider Ajay Thakur also gave a good performance.
U Mumba and Puneri Paltan both have terrific skippers, who can turn around the game at any moment. The raiders also play an instrumental role for their teams, so expect the match to be high-scoring.
