While we can confidently say that Patna Pirates and U Mumba have made their way to the Pro Kabaddi League 2016 semi finals, we can't quite say a similar thing for Bengal Warriors. The reason: Puneri Paltan and Telugu Titans will be trying their best to beat Warriors and make it to the top four spot before the playoffs as the competition enters a decisive phase.
Paltan and Titans clash swords against each other, Friday, at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex in Delhi.
While Puneri Paltan are on 32 points from 10 games, Telugu Titans are on 33 points from 11 games. Bengal Warriors meanwhile, are on 37 points from 11 games. Two teams have almost progressed to the next stage and the battle will now be between Paltan, Warriors and Titans to fill the remaining two spots for making it to the next round.
Puneri Paltan and Telugu Titans will have nothing but the Pro Kabaddi League 2016 semi finals spot in mind, as they get set to give an impressive show at the national capital in the 46th game of the season.
On-paper, the Titans can have a slight advantage as they have won six games this season as compared to Paltan's four wins, but Pune side's form this time just cannot be underestimated. Puneri Paltan drew against leaders Patna Pirates in both their league matches this season and they have also won their previous two fixtures by 10 points or more.
Telugu Titans have also won their last two games of the season and their stunning 18-point victory over Bengaluru Bulls in their second-last fixture also made quite a statement.
In ways more than one, we can expect Friday's match to be a cracking contest. The likes of Manjeet Chhillar and Surjeet from Puneri Paltan will have to be at the best of shapes to take on the likes of Sukesh Hegde and Rahul Chaudhary from Telugu Titans.
The match between Puneri Paltan and Telugu Titans will begin at 8 p.m. IST (2:30 p.m. GMT), Feb. 26.
