According to the synopsis of the episode, a summer's day in Oxford is disrupted by a parcel bomb explosion. The team is called in to investigate, but the victim is a womaniser, having been known to have had numerous affairs with younger women.

With his six-month trip to New Zealand with Hobson on the horizon, Lewis is in a race against time to save his career and relationship.

After a number of failed attempts, Lewis finally gets to spend some quality time with Hobson, away from work. He wants her to realise how much he cares for her and decides a good long holiday would be the best way to do it.

However, it seems luck is not in Lewis' favour. Just when he lands in New Zealand, he gets a call regarding a bomb explosion and is left with no choice but to drop his holiday plans.

Though Hobson understands Lewis' situation, she is infuriated at he leaving so early and accuses him of not wanting to spend time with her.

Finding himself in a quandary, Lewis is unsure of what he should do next; he can't imagine refusing a direct order, and at the same time, the thought of disappointing Hobson troubles him.

In the previous episode titled "Magnum Opus," Lewis and Hathaway were called to investigate a body in some woodland. But realising three more murders were to follow, the team hurried to catch the killer before that. Hathaway struggled to cope with his father's illness, as he continued to unravel who he was before the dementia kicked in.
