According to the synopsis of the episode by TV.com, "The SVU squad investigates and becomes part of a dating reality series when a contestant claims she was raped."

In "Assaulting Reality," Melanie Connor (Comfort Clinton), a contestant on dating show "Heart's Desire" accuses the show's host, Ryan Ledder (Adam Gregory), of raping her.

In the promo of the episode, Melanie watches helplessly as Ryan climbs on her bed and starts kissing her forcefully. Soon, the video footage was aired all over the country and Rollins (Kelli Giddish) comes across it.

Later, Melanie claims that she has no memory of the incident. However, soon she announces on live TV that she was raped. When Benson steps in, Ledder claimed that it was a false accusation and the incident was just a part of the script.

Benson and the rest of the team start working on the case. However, it is not as easy as they thought it to be as it is getting extremely difficult for them to concentrate while the show is filming.

The promo also shows Ledder kissing another contestant. When Benson tries to interrogate the contestants, they didn't agree to it as they don't want their opportunity to become famous with the show.

Though Benson is facing a lot of hurdles in the current case, she is determined to solve it at any cost. Whether she will find about the real culprit or not, will be seen once the episode airs.
