The premiere episode of The CW's "iZombie" titled "Grumpy Old Liv" will see Liv having the personality of a cantankerous old man, whose brains she consumes in a bid to know more about his death.

An anonymous call involving this man's death leads Liv and Detective Babineaux to the doorstep of Byron Thistlewaite, played by "Veronica Mars" alum Adam Rose.

According to the official synopsis, the new season will introduce the character of Calvin Owens played by actor and former basketball star Rick Fox. In the episode, he will be the last person to see Harry Cole, a gambler who was murdered in front of Clive at the King County Courthouse steps, alive.

Clive and Liv meet Calvin at the wake of Harry Cole. Fox said that he is thrilled to join this great ensemble.

In the episode, Liv consumes the brains of a cantankerous old man to help gain insight into his death. After receiving an anonymous call on the tipster hot-line, Liv and Clive stop by the residence of Byron Thistlewaite (guest star Adam Rose), to question the mysterious caller. Meanwhile, Ravi suspects that Major might be experiencing a side effect of the cure, and Liv pays Blaine a surprise visit.

Blaine will start a new business venture in the first episode while things will get tensed between Liv and Major as well as other members of her family.

In an interview with TV Line, Rob Thomas, executive producer of the show, said that Liv's mom is looking for explanations as to why Liv did not donate blood to her brother and that Liv is in a really dark place but she takes comfort in her work.

"Major has a different mission that is much bigger. It will be revealed in the pilot episode," he added.

He also said that Major will be avoiding Liv, but the latter will not be avoiding him and that they will both date other people in the next season.

In the meanwhile, Ravi will be looking for some of his tainted Utopium from the boat party in order to make more of the cure which may have some side effects and Clive will be trying to figure out what really happened at Meat Cute. Liv's dad is also set to make an appearance.
