Jurgen Klopp continues to get his team ready for the new season as Liverpool play AC Milan in the International Champions Cup in Santa Clara, California on Saturday.

Liverpool's first match in the US ended in defeat, to English Premier League rivals Chelsea. Gary Cahill scored the only goal of the game in that International Champions Cup match in Pasadena, even if the preseason friendly was overshadowed by Cesc Fabregas' straight-red-card tackle on summer signing Ragnar Klavan.

While results are secondary in these preseason games, considering Liverpool's support base around the world, Klopp will want his players to come up trumps against Milan on Saturday.

"Everybody could see in the Chelsea game, under different circumstances, there were no friends on the pitch," Klopp told reporters. "That means it is quite hard but that is what we should accept when we think about the Premier League of course. So it's good.

"But it's not that I only think about the games. I have never in my life as a manager thought about the games when we have had training sessions in preseason. Because we have to do what we have to do, and then you have to play the games after full training. That's quite intense for the players. It's a longer time than usual together but not the longest time, so we have to use it and that's what we're trying."

What Klopp is trying to do is bring in his ethos and try and stamp that mark into his players, so that, when it comes to the competitive games in the new season, he understanding will be natural, with each and everyone on the pitch aware of what needs to be done.

Milan, in a way, are in the same position as Liverpool, a storied team trying to bring back their glory days. Having finished a disappointing seventh in the Serie A last season, much like Liverpool did in the Premier League as well, the Italians, with a new manager in Vincenzo Montella, will want to build some confidence going into the new season.
