The New Year heralds the start of the awards season, and the first major event is the 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards, which, according to many is a mini Oscars event. The red carpet is as glamourous, celebrities display the best of fashion and the booze circulates freely among stars, making it a tad bit more enjoyable than the Oscars.

The Golden Globes 2016 will take place at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles and honour the most brilliant movies of 2015 like "The Revenant", "The Danish Girl", "Joy" and "Room".

What time does it start?

The event begins at 8 pm EST, but the red carpet entries will start at 6 pm. The four-hour-long ceremony will reveal what members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association think about the movies and TV series that released in 2015.

Who to watch out for on the red carpet?

Practically everyone. If you love fashion, the awards show will offer a glimpse of style that's trending in 2016. Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Willie Geist and Tamron Hall will be the hosts of the red carpet and they will carry out small interviews with the nominees.

Rose Theodora, astrologer at Enamel Diction, predicted what colours the stars would opt to wear at the Golden Globes 2016. Rose told E! Online Rooney Mara could wear "something more along the lines of slate or charcoal gray or midnight blue this year", embracing her sun sign, Aries.

Where to watch Golden Globes 2016 live?

This year, NBC has bagged the rights to be the official broadcaster of the show, which includes screening of the red carpet as well. They will air the show at 7 pm EST and 4 pm PST. You can live-stream the show via NBC website.

E! has access to the red carpet only. The network will begin to air the red carpet appearences at 6 pm EST. You can watch it on E! via E! Live.

Hulu also has access to the red carpet portion of Golden Globes 2016. Watch it on the Hulu website

If you are in India, you can watch the ceremony live on Vh1 India.

Who will host Golden Globes 2016?

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler dedicated themselves to making the winners and the losers happy for the past three years. This year, British comedian Ricky Gervais will relay jokes crafted in the bowels of his imagination and creativity, and will most probably make someone feel uncomfortable in the process. This is the fourth time Ricky Gervais has been appointed to deliver some of his caustic jibes at Hollywood celebs.

When he hosted the awards function in 2010, he famously said: "Actors aren't just loved here in Hollywood, they are loved the world over. You could be in the third world and get a glimpse of a Hollywood star and it could make you feel a little bit better. You could be a little Asian child with no possessions and no money. But you could see a picture of Angelina Jolie and you'd think, 'Mummy'!"

Who will present the awards?

This year's presenters include: Melissa Benoist, Viola Davis, Morgan Freeman, Grant Gustin, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Kevin Hart, Taraji P. Henson, Terrence Howard, Ken Jeong, Dwayne Johnson, Michael Keaton, Lady Gaga, Eva Longoria, Jennifer Lopez, Jason Statham, Mark Wahlberg, Amy Adams, Jaimie Alexander, Patricia Arquette, Jim Carrey, Jamie Foxx, Mel Gibson, Amber Heard, Bryce Dallas Howard, Kate Hudson, Jennifer Lawrence, Helen Mirren, Julianne Moore, Eddie Redmayne, Amy Schumer, JK Simmons, Channing Tatum, and Olivia Wilde.
