"Singam 2" is the sequel to the blockbuster "Singam" directed by Hari. The prequel was remade in different languages including in Hindi ("Singham" starring Ajay Devgn) and in Kannada ("Kempe Gowda" starring Sudeep). The films were massive hits in all the three versions.

Actress Anushka Shetty who played the female lead in "Singam" once again features in the sequel. Hansika Motwani plays the other female lead. The rest of the film's cast includes Vivek, Santhanam, Nassar, Vijayakumar and Mukesh Rishi. Prakash Raj, who played the baddie in the original, will not be part of the sequel.

Ever since the film went on floors, there have been a lot of expectations as the prequel part ("Singam) was a big hit. Director Hari, who is known to complete his projects rapidly, has taken more time than expected to work on his current project. Buzz is that "Singam 2" will be much bigger and better than the prequel.

According to the director, one of the film's highlights would be the locations. It has been extensively shot in various locations across South India as well as South Africa. "While the first half is shot completely in South India, we have filmed crucial parts of the second half in places such as Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg in South Africa. We have filmed an important fight scene in the crowded streets of Durban," Hari once told Indo-Asian News Service.

"Singam 2" has been slated to release on 2 June. The Telugu version (dubbed) of the film, "Yamudu 2", is also expected to get released on the same date.
