Indian stars Saina Nehwal and Kidambi Srikanth open their campaign in the year-ending prestigious BWF World Series Finals in Dubai on Wednesday, 9 December.

While Saina takes on Nozumi Okuhara of Japan in the first group game in the women's singles category, Srikanth takes on Kento Momota, also of Japan, in the men's singles category.

Saina is ranked 6 in the World Super Series, while Okuhara is ranked 5. The rankings have no significance in the match today, as the Indian has overpowered the Japanese on five occasions in the past, and has never lost against her.

The Indian shuttler, who got a lucky entry into the prestigious BWF tournament, is number 10 in the World Series rankings, and has a stiff task in getting past Momota, who is ranked 2. Nevertheless, the head to head record of the two is even. They have been pitted against each other on six occasions; Srikanth and Momota have won three each.
