St Kitts & Nevis Patriots will take on Guyana Amazon Warriors in match no. 2 of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2016 at the Basseterre in St Kitts on Thursday. Patriots finished at the bottom of the table in the last of the CPL whereas, the Warriors made it to the final four.
This is going to be an interesting contest as both teams have made some interesting buys during the CPL 2016 auction earlier this year.
The Patriots joined the CPL last year but they were rather ordinary in their maiden season as they finished last. If they want to make a statement in CPL 2016, they will have to play good all-round cricket.
It will take a herculean effort from the Patriots to stun the Guyana Amazon Warriors on Thursday. But one never knows, as cricket is a funny game.
Fans witnessed how St Lucia Zouks outplayed the defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders on Wednesday in Port of Spain. So anything can happen when Patriots and Warriors square off in Basseterre.
Patriots skipper Faf du Plessis will make his debut in CPL on Thursday. He is one of the better players in the shortest format of the game and he would want to lead his side from the front with the bat and on the field, as he is a brilliant fielder also.
Patriots also have a number of experienced T20 campaigners in their squad and Du Plessis will want them to come in handy in this edition of the CPL.
Meanwhile, Guyana Amazon Warriors, who will be led by Martin Guptill, have talented cricketers like Adam Zampa, Sohail Tanvir, Dwayne Smith and Chris Lynn. One can expect an evenly-matched contest when these two sides take the field on Thursday.
