The synopsis of the episode, as stated by Carter Matt, reads:

"April (Yaya DaCosta) and Dr Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) handle an alcoholic homeless man with a broken leg, but they don't see eye to eye on how to best treat his illness.

"Still grieving the death of her late husband, Dr Manning (Torrey DeVitto) experiences a medical event after realising her wedding ring has gone missing. Dr Charles (Oliver Platt) and Sarah (Rachel DiPillo) treat two elderly women with the exact same symptoms, but uncover a surprise that links the two cases together.

"Dr Downey (guest star Gregg Henry) and Dr Rhodes (Colin Donnell) operate on a patient refusing their recommended treatment due to religious reasons. Meanwhile, a frustrated Dr Halstead considers a job offer in California."

In the previous episode titled "Disorder," When Dr Rhodes and Dr Downey treated a patient with a multitude of health and heart issues, they uncovered he might be misdiagnosed and disagreed over the best course of action.

Dr Choi (Brian Tee), riding along with paramedic Sylvie Brett (guest star Kara Killmer), responded to a call for a man with a leg injury, but complications arose in getting to him since the home was wrought with excessive hoarding.

Meanwhile, treating a patient who was bitten by her own dog, Dr Manning and Sarah had suspicions about the reason behind the injury and what it might had meant.
