It is going to be a full house in the Adelaide Oval on New Year's Eve when Adelaide Strikers take on the Sydney Sixers in match No. 14 of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2015-2016 on Thursday.

The organisers claimed on Wednesday that they have already sold 50,000 tickets and they do not have any tickets left for the New Year's Eve clash between Strikers and the Sixers.

Both Strikers and Sixers are coming into this match riding on the back of crushing defeats, but they are still in a good position, and will be eye second position in the BBL points table.

Strikers were thumped by the upbeat Sydney Thunder in their last game and their crafty all-rounder Adil Rahid is confident that they can forget that seven-wicket defeat and make amends in the upcoming game.

On the other hand, Sixers were outclassed by Glenn Maxwell's brilliance with the bat for the Melbourne Stars. Skipper Nic Maddinson is aware of Strikers' strengths and he will want to lead his side to a victory on the New Year's Eve.

"It's going to be tough. Two wins on the road is going to be difficult to achieve, but it's probably what we need to do if we want to finish in the in the top couple of teams in the competition. It's a big four or five days for us now, especially after the loss at home," Maddinson was quoted as saying by the official website of the franchise.

"For Adelaide, I think we have to prepare for them to take the pace off the ball -- that's always the case in Adelaide. I thought the Stars bowled pretty well against us last week when they took the pace off so I would expect something pretty similar from Adelaide."

Sixers will have to take the field on Thursday without the services of Steven O'Keefe, Nathan Lyon and Moises Henriques. Henriques suffered a ligament tear during the last game and is unlikely to feature in the rest of the BBL this season.

Squads: Adelaide Strikers: Brad Hodge (C), Jono Dean, Travis Head, Jon Holland, Mahela Jayawardena, Ben Laughlin, Tim Ludeman, Michael Neser, Adil Rashid, Kane Richardson, Alex Ross, Craig Simmons, Billy Stanlake.

Sydney Sixers: Nic Maddinson (C), Sean Abbott, Riley Ayre, Jackson Bird, Doug Bollinger, Johan Botha, Ryan Carters, Ed Cowan, Ben Dwarshuis, Brad Haddin, Michael Lumb, Jordan Silk, Charlie Wakim.
