Maria Sharapova is facing a topsy-turvy moment in her career at the moment with several events happening -- from not being awarded a wildcard for French Open 2017 to making it to the Wimbledon 2017 qualifying stage. And now, she is also facing weird people during media interactions.

Sharapova: "I feel like every match or every day I learn a little bit more and things are coming back to me about the way that I feel and the way I get ready for a match and my habits on match days and those things.

"Now you're back in the groove of things and I'm enjoying being back in these cities and waking up in Rome and waking up in Madrid and I'm a happy person."

Reporter: [Happy?] Even without a boyfriend?

Sharapova: [breaks into a laughter] No comment.

Reporter: It would be nice.

Sharapova: [continues her laugh] Is it? It would be nice. OK — for you. Are you married?

The media interaction took place after Sharapova's win over Christina McHale in the first round of the Italian Open 2017 tennis tournament, which made her qualify for the inaugural stages of Wimbledon. The Russian had to retire in-between her second round match against Lucic-Baroni, with a left thigh injury, while she was leading 4-6 6-3 2-1.

Sharapova needed to reach at least the semi-finals of the Italian Open to qualify for the main draw of Wimbledon 2017.
