Swedish luxury car-maker Volvo Auto inaugurated a new showroom in Mumbai.

Spread over an area of 2,000 sq ft, the new KIFS Motors is located at Link road in Andheri West. The showrooms will have the entire Volvo India line-up that includes - V40, S60, S80, XC60 and XC90.

"Buoyed by our increased acceptability among our valued customers in the last 2-3 years, we are now looking at further strengthening our foothold and expanding our reach in the Indian market. Mumbai is the business capital and it was imperative for us to have an ideal partner in the city,' said Tomas Ernberg, Managing Director, Volvo Auto India.

In another important development, NTDV reported that Volvo will launch its SUV XC90 in India around September. Likely to be priced at ₹85 lakh, Volvo XC90 will be brought to India as completely built-up unit (CBU). Based on the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA), Volvo XC90, the world's safest SUV measures 4,950 mm in length, 1,923 mm in width and 1,776 mm in height.

Under the hood, Volvo XC90 pack 1,969cc inline four cylinders, twin turbocharged diesel engine that is tuned to churn out a power of 225bhp at 4,250rpm and a peak torque of 470Nm.

The engine will come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and the SUV is expected to get features like touchscreen display with Google Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, voice recognition and powered seats onboard.
