Volvo Auto India will launch the S90 and the XC 90 T8 plug in hybrid soon. A company statement has confirmed the launch of both the models. The date of the launch, however, has not been disclosed yet. The launch of both the models is expected to happen during the festive season.

Volvo globally unveiled the S90 sedan, replacing the ageing S80 sedan, in December 2015. The S90 features a completely new design language of the Swedish brand which debuted with the XC90 SUV. The face of the sedan is highlighted with a square-shaped grille. The grille is flanked by the Thor's Hammer-inspired signature LED headlight. The side profile of the S90 suggests the car is longer than the S80 and the C-pillar is curvier like the coupe models. The rear of the car gets an all-new design and a set of C -shaped tail-lamps.

The sedan is expected to get a 2.0-litre diesel in D4 or D5 trims. The D4 develops 188bhp while the D5 develops 232bhp.

Volvo launched the latest generation of the XC90 SUV in India in May 2015. The range will get a hybrid power plant equipped version. The variant is powered by a 2.0-litre four cylinder turbo and supercharged engine working in tandem with an electric motor. The combined output of the hybrid powerplant is 400bhp and 640Nm of torque. The engine is mated to eight-speed automatic transmission. The T8 version is expected to cost more than the regular variants, which are priced at Rs. 64.9 lakh and Rs. 77.9 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai).

The Swedish manufacturer is also working on its first all-electric car, which is due in 2019. The company announced that it aims to sell a total of up to one million electrified cars by 2025 globally.
