Agartala, Feb 11 (ANI): Visitors thronged the two-day philatelic exhibition organised by Philatelic Bureau of the Indian Postal Department in Agartala. The district level exhibition, which was inaugurated by chairperson of Tripura Commission for Women Purnima Roy at Muktadhara Hall, was thronged by professional stamp collectors and enthusiasts. Over 1, 500 stamps from different periods, countries and events were displayed at the exhibition. Organiser, Nirmal Chakraborty, said that the exhibition was organised to promote philately and give young generation an understanding of one of India's oldest communicating system in the age of e-mails and SMSes. The organisers believed that stamps help in expanding people's knowledge in terms of politics, history, prominent events and even geography.
