Spy thriller "Vishwaroop" has managed bag excellent figures in India in its first week. The Hindi version of the controversial film has made it to second position with "Race 2" ruling the box office.

The Kamal Haasan starrer minted approximately ₹11.50 crore in seven days.

The film opened to dull response but picked up over the weekend and maintained a steady pace in the weekdays too. The Hindi version was released in Mumbai, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh on Feb 1. It performed well especially in the Mumbai territory.

It collected ₹1.89 crore on Friday, ₹2.47 crore on Saturday, ₹3.29 crore on Sunday, ₹1.25 crore on Monday, ₹1.11 crore on Tuesday, ₹84.12 lakhs on Wednesday and approximately ₹80 lakhs on Thursday.

Kamal played the lead character in the film, while Pooja Kumar, Rahul Bose, Andrea Jeremiah and Jaideep Ahlawat were cast in supporting roles.

The trilingual film was landed into a legal controversy a day before its release. Nearly two weeks after the controversy ended, the film was finally released in home state Tamil Nadu on Thursday.

Last week, six movies were released but only "Vishwaroop" and "David" did well at the box office. "David" is an action thriller and features Vikram, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Vinay Virmani in lead roles.

The film received rave reviews from critics but opened to poor response at the box office. The Hindi version of the film raked in ₹3.86 crore, while the Tamil version raked in ₹4.27 crore in its first week.
