Hindu New Year, known as Vishu, is considered as one of the most auspicious festivals in Kerala. Various Malayalam entertainment channels are in the race to premiere the popular and superhit movies during the festival day, which falls Thursday, April 14, this year.

Popular Malayalam entertainment channels Asianet, Mazhavil Manorama, Surya TV, Flowers and others will screen the premiere shows of blockbuster movies "Premam," "Maari," "Jamna Pyari," "Rani Padmini," "Rudramadevi," "Puthiya Niyamam," "Kunjiramayanam," "AakashVani" and others on April 14 as a Vishu special treat to the audience.

Here is the list of movies to be screened on various channels on Vishu day:

Jamna Pyari

Kunchacko Boban and Gayathri Suresh's family comedy entertainer "Jamna Pyari" opened to mixed response from the audience. The Thomas Sebastian directorial, based on the life of an auto-rickshaw driver Vasootan will be broadcast on Asianet at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Puthiya Niyamam

Nayantara garnered stupendous response from her fans for portraying the character Vasuki in AK Sajan's crime thriller "Puthiya Niyamam." The Mammootty starrer, which inspires women to react to social issues will be screened at 1 p.m. on Mazhavil Manorama.

Rajamma at Yahoo

Kunchacko Boban and Asif Ali's "Rajamma at Yahoo," directed by Reghu Rama Varma, will be aired on Surya TV from 1 p.m. onwards. The movie had opened to mixed critical reception.

Kunjiramayanam

The comedy entertainer "Kunjiramayanam," starring Vineeth Sreenivasan, Dhyan Sreenivasan, Aju Varghese and others is the debut directorial venture of actor-scriptwriter Basil Joseph. The movie will be aired at 1:30 p.m. on Asianet.

Su Su Sudhi Vathmeekam

Jayasurya bagged the Special Jury Award in National Film Awards and Kerala State Film Awards for his performance as a stammerer in Ranjith Sankar's family entertainer "Su Su Sudhi Vathmeekam." The movie, starring Sshivada Nair, Swathy Narayanan in siginificant roles will be screened at 3:30 p.m on Mazhavil Manorama.

Amar Akbar Anthony

Mimicry artiste Nadhirshah's debut directorial "Amar Akbar Anthony" did tremendous business at the box offices in India and abroad. Surya TV will broadcast the comedy entertainer, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, Indrajith Sukumaran and Jayasurya at 4 p.m. Thursday.

AakashVani

Entertainment channel Flowers will broadcast Vijay Babu and Kavya Madhavan's family entertainer "AakashVani" at 5 p.m. Thursday. The Khais Millen directorial narrates the ego clashes and issues that happen in the family life of Aakash and Vani. The film also has Saiju Govinda Kurup, Lalu Alex, Sreejith Ravi, Lijo Jose Pellissery, Vineeth Mohan and Sandra Thomas in pivotal roles.

Premam

Director Alphonse Puthren's "Premam" has become the most popular movie of the year 2016. The romantic entertainer starring Nivin Pauly, Madonna Sebastian, Sai Pallavi and Anupama Parameshwaran in the lead roles is one of the highest grossing movies in Malayalam. The movie will be screened on Asianet channel at 7 p.m. onwards.

Meanwhile, Dhanush's "Maari" and Anushka Shetty's "Rudramadevi" will be aired on Mazhavil Manorama at 9:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., respectively. Dileep and Namitha Pramod's "Villali Veeran" and Mammootty-Nayantara's "Bhaskar The Rascal" will also be screened on Surya TV at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.
