"Vikings" will be back on History Channel with new twists and turns in Ragnar Lothbrok's (Travis Fimmel) life from 19 February onwards. The brand new season of the drama series will also take its viewers through the biggest battle of the show and various dysfunctional relationships.

"Rumored to be impenetrable to outside forces, Ragnar and his band of Norsemen must come together to break down its walls and cement the VIKINGS legend in history," reads the synopsis of upcoming season.

Meanwhile, creator Michael Hirst revealed that season 3 will begin a new chapter and a bigger battlefield for the "Vikings".

"We keep increasing the scale as they did historically. We started with one long boat and 30 warriors attacking an isolated monastery and Paris involves 100 boats and 3,000 warriors," he told Yahoo TV.

He also teased that the drama series will focus on dysfunctional relationship between the lead characters in the next season.

At the meantime, a trailer of the new season indicates that the series will show lives splitting and struggling alone for itself.

There are also speculations on the death of a lead as Hirst teased that "Killing people off is inevitable".

"Vikings" season 3 might even show Northmen getting involved in the fight for Mercia in its premiere episode titled "Mercenary".

Apart from its existing cast members, Ben Robson, Kevin Durand, Lothaire Bluteau and Morgane Polanski will also join the show in season 3.

"Vikings" season 3 will premiere on Thursday, 19 February at 10pm on History Channel.
