Actor Vijay's upcoming film, "Thalaivaa (Leader)" is all set to have a grand release on 9 August.

It was reported earlier that "Thalaivaa", an action entertiner, will be released on the eve of Vijay's birthday which happens to be on 22 June before a section of the media put the release date to July. But, the latest we hear is that its release has been pushed to 9 August due to technical issues. It will cash in on the Eid and Independence Day weekend.

Having finished the shooting, the makers of the film will be releasing the audio on 21 June, a day ahead of Vijay's birthday. G V Prakash has composed the music and the track list of the album is scheduled to be released on 13 June. Vijay and comedian Santhanam have crooned the song - "Vanganna Vanakamganna" - which made it to the internet before the official launch.

 The first look of "Thalaivaa", which was released in April, created lot of buzz among the film buffs. Expectations on the film are high following the success of Vijay's last release, "Thuppakki" (Pistol) directed by A R Murugadoss.

Amala Paul plays the female lead for the first time in a Vijay film. Versatile actor Sathyaraj will be donning a pivotal role and the other cast of the film includes Rajiv Pillai, Abhimanyu Singh, Suresh, Ponvannan, Thambi Ramaiah and Manobala.

"Thalaivaa" is directed by A L Vijay of "Deiva Thirumagal" fame and produced by Sri Mishri Productions Chandraparakash Jain. Vendhar Movies S Madhan will be distributing the film in Tamil Nadu.

Besides this film, Vijay will also be seen in another Tamil flick titled, "Jilla." Directed by R T Nesan, the film will have big stars including Malayalam actor Mohan Lal and Poornima Jayaram appearing in pivotal roles. According to latest reports, Mohan Lal and Vijay would be playing the father-son roles in the film. Actress Kajal Aggarwal teams up with Vijay for the second time after "Thuppakki." The other cast members include Mahat Raghavendra, Prakash Raj, Thambi Ramaiah and VTV Ganesh.
