The official trailer and audio of Vijay's upcoming film "Thalaivaa" was launched on 21 June, a day ahead of the actor's birthday.

A grand event was organized at Taj Coramandel, Chennai, by the film's makers for the audio and trailer launch. The film's cast as well as some of the members of the Tamil film fraternity including Vijay and his wife Sangeetha, his parents Chandrasekhar and Shoba, film's director Vijay, Sathyaraj, his son Sibiraj, G V Prakash, Suresh, Amala Paul, Saranya and Rekha attended the event.

The music album has six tracks penned by Na Muthukumar and composed by G V Prakash. Vijay and comedian Santhanam have crooned a song for the film.

Reports have emerged that composer G V Prakash will be shaking a leg with Vijay and Santhanam in the "Vanganna Vanakkamganna" song. Sony music has bought the audio rights of "Thalaivaa." Popular regional Channel Sun TV has got the telecast rights of the film's audio launch as well as the satellite rights.

"Sun TV has the telecast rights of #Thalaivaa audio launch function and also satellite rights," senior Journalist Sreedhar Pillai tweeted.

"Thalaivaa's official trailer was also released simultaneously with the audio launch. The two minute 42 second video reminds us that the film would be a perfect commercial entertainer with all the ingredients including action, romance, songs and comedy. It will be a double treat for Vijay fans as the actor celebrates his birthday today (22 June).

"Thalaivaa" is about a common man who turns into a leader. The film is produced by Chandraparakash Jain under Sri Mishri Productions banner. For the first time, Amala Paul plays the female lead for Vijay. Veteran Sathyaraj dons a pivotal role. The rest of the cast includes Manobala, Ragini Nandwani and Rajeev Pillai in supporting roles.

The film's shooting has been completed and is currently in post-production stage.

"Thalaivaa" is expected to get released on 9 August, a week ahead of Independence Day.
