"Ilayathalapathy" Vijay seems to be the choice of every Kollywood director for their films these days.

Though the actor is currently focused on AR Murugadoss' upcoming film (tentatively titled as "Vijay 55"), there has been a lot of buzz about his new projects.

Earlier, there were reports that Ilayathalapathy will star in Chimbu Devan's film, which will be jointly produced by the actor's manager PT Selvakumar and Shibu of Thameens Films. An official announcement on the details of the film's cast and crew is still awaited.

Speculations are rife that the actor has been approached by quite a few directors, besides Chimbu Devan, to rope him in for their respective projects. Names of popular directors including Suseenthiran ("Pandiya Naadu"), Sasikumar ("Subramaniapuram") and Atlee ("Raja Rani") are being associated with Vijay's new projects.

The latest to join the list is director Samuthirakani, who tasted success with his recently released "Nimirnthu Nil". The director has reportedly been in talks with Vijay for a new film, though there has been no confirmation regarding this project yet.

"Samuthirakani and Vijay haven't met each other till now, though they have had discussions over the phone. The talks for this project are in process but nothing has been confirmed. Once they meet, things may fall in place," a source close to the director told Behindwoods.

"The situation will also become clearer after the release of Janda Pai Kapiraju, the Telugu version of Nimirnthu Nil. Samuthirakani is also in talks for a film with Jiiva. His next film will be known clearly by April," the source added.

Vijay is likely to start the Chimbu Devan project, after completing the Murugadoss film. On the other hand, Samuthirakani will reportedly commence his new film "Kitna" with Amala Paul in double role.

If Vijay and Samuthirakani are to team up for a film, it might take some time for the project to go on floors, since both the actor and the director will be busy with their other film commitments.
