Ilayathalapathy Vijay's movie, which is directed by Atlee Kumar, was launched on Friday, 26 June and its muhurat function was held at Kerala House in ECR, Chennai.

Presently called "Vijay 59", the movie's launch event was attended by Vijay, GV Prakash Kumar, SA Chandrasekar, Prabhu, Radhikaa Sarathkumar and other cast and crew of the forthcoming Tamil film.  But film's female leads Samantha and Amy Jackson skipped the event due to other commitments.

Nonetheless, Samantha took Twitter to share her excitement on being part of this project. The actress tweeted, "All the very best team #Vijay59 . Welcoming more positivity in my life. More than excited to be a part of this team."

The shooting schedule of the flick will begin in the first week of July in Chennai and the shooting will come to an end in December. The makers have planned for 140 days shooting, majorly in Chennai.As per the director, "Vijay 59" is a family entertainer and both Samantha and Amy Jackson have emotional roles. When it comes to technical team, the director has retained all the members from his earlier movie "Raja Rani".

Atlee denied the rumours, which claimed that AR Rahman has crooned a number for the flick. He also said that he has promised Kalaipuli Dhanu that this film will be the producer's best production till date. 

It is reported that Vijay will be seen in the role of a cop. Mahendran, Azhagam Perumal and Kaali Venkat are in the cast. 

The forthcoming movie is produced by Kalaipuli S Dhanu and is the second venture of Atlee Kumar as a director after his dream debut with "Raja Rani".
