"The Dirty Picture" star Vidya Balan will go from flab to utterly fabulous. Filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh has asked the actress to shed those extra kilos she had gained in the past few months for the sequel of his 2012 thriller film "Kahaani".

The director said that audiences would get to see a new avatar of Vidya as she will perform some action scenes in the upcoming movie "Kahaani 2".

"I want to start shooting Kahaani 2 from May next year. Vidya needs to be very agile in the film," The Times of India quoted Ghosh as saying.

In the prequel, Vidya played the role of a pregnant Bengali woman. In the sequel she will be doing some action scenes for which the actress will have to be a lot leaner than in her previous role.

"As per the demand of the role, there will be a lot of action in the sequel. So hopefully, audiences will get to see a new Vidya in Kahaani 2," IANS quoted Ghosh as saying.

"Not too much, but as per the script, Vidya will have few action scenes in the film. So as the script demands, I had asked her to be in shape. There will be some physical activities that Vidya will have to do in the film," he added.

Known as the "female hero" of Bollywood, Vidya gained weight for her role in "The Dirty Picture", a movie for which she was critically acclaimed. Apparently, she gained about 12 kilograms (26 lb) for the biopic, which was based on the life of controversial Indian actress Silk Smitha.

Vidya was planning to get back in shape after the release of "Kahaani". But according to reports, director Raj Kumar Gupta wanted Vidya to lose weight after finishing the shooting of his comic cum thriller movie "Ghanchakkar".

As of now, Ghosh is positive about Vidya losing weight before his film goes on floors.

"Giventhekind of person Vidya is who can both gain and lose weight easily, this shouldn't be a tall task for her," Ghosh said.
