Triple H was the 30th superstar to enter the ring in the WWE Royal Rumble 2016 match, where Roman Reigns was trying to defend his World Heavyweight Championship title.
Reigns did not last long after Triple H made his entry into the ring. Triple H and Reigns were involved in a stare-off before the former entered the ring. Reigns immediately knew this would be his biggest challenge and much to the fans' cheers, the 13-time World Heavywight Champion threw Reigns off the ring.
Triple H and Dean Ambrose were the the only two survivors till end and it took very little time for the former to outplay the latter and thereby claim the World Heavweight Championship title for the 14th time.
Triple H will now have to defend his title in Wrestlemania 32 in April. The WWE superstar celebrated his victory with wife Stephanie McMahon and father-in-law Vince MacMahon, who is also the chairman and CEO of the WWE Universe.
McMahon had promised Reigns that he will not walk out of the Royal Rumble as champion and Triple H ensured just that.
Vince McMahon also ordered The League of Nations to attack Reigns outside the rind during the Royal Rumble match. Reigns left the arena injured, without being eliminated, before coming back to the ring after receiving some treatment. However, Triple H made sure Reigns would be eliminated, by throwing him off the top rope.
Meanwhile, Charlotte retained her WWE Divas Championship title after defeating Becky Lynch. Ric Flair distracted Becky Lynch as the latter was dominating his daughter, and that strategy helped Charlotte retain the Divas Championship title.
In another match Kalisto defeated Alberto Del Rio to claim the WWE United States Championship.
The New Day retained their Tag Team Championship title after defeating The New Day yet again.
Superstar Dean Ambrose was involved in a last man standing match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Kevin Owens. Ambrose defeated Owens in a match that lasted 25 minutes.
A Fatal Fourway Tag Team match was announced and the winner of this match got direct entry to the Royal Rumble match. Mark Henry and Jack Swagger emerged victorious.
