After a goalless first half, Liverpool and Bordeaux put up a better show in the second half, which witnessed Reds' Adam Lallana and Bordeaux's Ferreira Jussie find the back of the net to share one point apiece from the Europa League Group B tie at Nouveau Stade de in Bordeaux.

Liverpool could have held their ground after taking lead in the second half, but their defense looked shaky during the match. A solid performance at the back could have helped Liverpool return home with three points, but one has to give credit for the way Bordeaux players gave it their all to equalize.

The home crowd in Bordeaux egged their team to go for three points after scoring the equalizer and they came close to it as well, but failed to find the back of the net.

However, the 1-1 scoreline reflects a fair picture for both sides, though, Liverpool were expected to win the match and take home three points. In fact, it was the home team, who should have taken lead in the first half after coming close to a goal with decent chances to please their home supporters.

Liverpool did not come up with their best football during the game and even looked weak in some phases during the game.

The team put forward by Liverpool saw some big names missing including the defensive pair of Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren. Brendan Rodgers went ahead with a new defensive pair of Mamadou Sakho and Kolo Toure, but the Ivory Coast player was subbed midway during the first half due to an injury.

In fact, Rodgers also decided to play without their number one striker, Christian Benteke and provided a chance for Divock Origi to start. However, the former Lille striker failed to impress and was replaced by Danny Ings, who showed some glimpses of his Burnley days, but was not able to score despite his chances.

As usual , Philippe Coutinho was the star player for Liverpool with some magical touches and his first half splendid shot, which struck the post from long range in the dying minutes of the game, was a case of individual brilliance.

With James Milner also not featuring in the game, the captain's armband was given to Sakho, who has not got a chance to start the EPL so far, have put forward a claim for place in the starting eleven at Dejan Lovren's expense during the weekend EPL fixture against Norwich City.
