Barcelona stayed at the top of the La Liga after thrashing Celta Vigo 6-1 at the Camp Nou on Sunday.

Luis Suarez bagged a hat-trick against Celta Vigo, with Lionel Messi, Neymar and Ivan Rakitic also getting on the goalscoring list.

Barcelona avenged their 4-1 defeat suffered in September last year against Celta Vigo at the latter's home ground.

The terrific trio of Messi, Neymar and Suarez returned to the playing XI, after they were rested in the midweek Copa Del Rey fixture against Valencia, and they combined on Sunday yet again to give the Catalans a thumping win over a beleaguered Celta Vigo.

The Spanish giants extended their unbeaten streak to 30 -- a club record -- in all competitions with the win. They also extended their winning streak at the Camp Nou to eight games.

With this victory, Barcelona maintained their position at the top of the La Liga points table with 57 points in 23 matches. They are three points clear of Atletico Madrid and four ahead of Real Madrid.

Both Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid won their respective matches in La Liga at the weekend, which meant Barcelona could not afford to drop any points against Celta Vigo.

Messi was the star of the game, and the Argentine ensured Suarez would finish the match with a hat-trick, as he let go off a chance of scoring his 300th goal in La Liga. Messi stepped up to take a penalty in the 81st minute and, instead of lostting the ball home, he passed the ball cheekily to Suarez who provided the needed finish.

Watch Lionel Messi's cheeky pass from the penalty spot to help Suarez complete his hat-trick:

Messi opened the scoring in the 28th minute of the game. Celta Vigo did equalise in the 39th minute with the help of John Guidetti. But it was Barcelona all the way from there.

Celta Vigo have had an awful run in 2016 as they have managed just one win in eight played so far in the new year.
