Season 7 of "The Vampire Diaries" will see Ian Somerhalder's Damon Salvatore moving on in life now that a sleeping spell has been cast on his girlfriend Elena Gilbert.

The upcoming season will see both Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Damon come to terms with Elena's absence, as well as sort out the issues they have with each other.

Bonnie and Damon struck up an unlikely friendship in season 6 when the two got stuck in Kai's prison world. Although they continued being friends, Elena's sacrifice is going to create some strain in their relationship.

"You're going to see that they both have their issues with each other, which isn't anything new, but they're actually dealing with it," Graham teased, according to Buddy TV. "We're going to see them dealing with each other in a very direct way."

Graham also said that the season premiere will reveal Bonnie's plans for her future.

"This is a character that's come back strong and obviously she's going to want to do right by herself, by Elena and whoever else that she's lost in the process. She's going to want to not sacrifice any more. If she lost all of this, she's going to make it count," Graham said.

As for Somerhalder's character, Damon will be more fun and meaner in the upcoming season as Elena is no longer his voice of reason. Fans will once again get to see Damon's evil side, something that was a constant in the first two seasons of The CW vampire drama.

At the Comic-Con panel, Somerhalder also said the show has a treat for Damon fans, as his character is naked in more than one episode. "I think I'm naked in like two episodes," Somerhalder said during San Diego Comic-Con panel, reported Entertainment Weekly.

"The Vampire Diaries" returns to The CW in October.
